Does Marijuana Help Meditation?-A Personal Perspective

Let’s face it.

In our modern world, we are bombarded by so many factors that affect our everyday lives. Work, finances, family and health are all but a few that dictate how our days or nights will play out.

How we deal with them can be a personal choice or for some, under the care of a physician such as a therapist or psychologist.

Many use prescribed medications while many are now turning to alternative therapies which can include the use of medical marijuana.

Medical marijuana itself can be viewed as a therapy itself.frustration

The course of treatment may include the smoking of a particular strain designed to deal with stress, anxiety, PTSD and many other psychosomatic ailments that seem to be so prevalent today.

The use of medical marijuana for these conditions offer can offer a relaxing and body calming experience.

However, many are also incorporating meditation into their regime, and the added benefits that meditation can offer only to enhance the use of the medical marijuana in many ways.

The Calming Effect

By smoking or ingesting medical marijuana, we seek that calmness that for some reason our bodies resist to initiate for us, and yes, medical marijuana is a good start.

I have used medical marijuana for just this reason.

It calms me down, let me think in a clear concise manner, and invigorates my energy levels so I can participate in everyday activities that so many take for granted.

benefits of meditationI have however recently started to include mediation into my everyday activities as well, and what a difference it has made.

I feel more invigorated.

I have an interest in what was mundane or a chore before.

People have noticed the difference in my demeanor.

I still smoke my medical marijuana-this is just an great addition that actually helps the medical marijuana do its job even better.

No Guru Needed

I’m not one for joining a class.

Yoga does not interest me and for many, it can be impossible to do.

In a group setting, I feel apprehensive and intimidated and spend more time worrying about that than I would actually getting any benefit from the group class itself.

I know I am not alone.

While attending my regular physiotherapy appointment for my RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy), my therapist was concerned about my breathing.

Holding my breath was the biggest concern.

I also suffer from severe sleep apnea.

I was conscious of the fact that my breathing was inconsistent, so she made a suggestion.

She introduced me to mediation.

Not the regular type of meditation which involved attending a class, but a routine that was available for me to do at home, in my own comfort zone and when it was convenient for me to do.

I liked this idea.

No worry about getting to the class and the added stress of others there with their own issues.

I could concentrate on me.

Let me explain.

Meditation on my Terms

I want to introduce you to my meditation therapist who has become my best friend.

It is Muse-The Brain Sensing Headband.

It gently guides your meditation through the changing sounds of weather based on the real-time state of your brain. This allows you to obtain a deeper sense of focus and motivates you to build a highly rewarding practise.muse headband

Meditation has been scientifically shown to reduce symptoms associated with stress, depression and anxiety as well as improve focus, performance and quality of life.

The brain sensing headband is a brain fitness tool that measures brain signals much like a heart rate monitor senses your heartbeat.

The measurements Muse takes are harmless to people and only provide information about your general state.

Brain sensing has been used in hospitals and research institutions for over a century to study various aspects of the brain’s function. You are already in a state of relaxation from using your medical marijuana and the Muse will help you attain an even deeper state.

It will not make you a zombie or anything like that.

Instead, by achieving that deeper state of relaxation, you benefit by a more controlled and effective state that you can carry with you thru the day or into the evening.

It’s also great for helping with those sleeping issues we all seem to have.

Using the Muse Headband

Nothing could be easier.

If you are like me, I don’t want something that is going to aggravate or frustrate me in order to use it. I already have enough of that in my life already and do not need to add to it.

Thankfully the Muse does not do that, which is one of the reasons I like and use this so much.

Setup is pretty routine. and only involves a few steps to be ready.

Connect To The App

Begin by connecting Muse to the app on your mobile device via Bluetooth.

You only need to do this once.

Once paired, Muse will automatically try to link to the last device it connected to.

Take The Tutorial

The first time you use Muse, you’ll be led through a simple tutorial that teaches you how to adjust the headband for a good fit and to ensure it’s reading your brain signals correctly.

Your brain is different every day. To calibrate itself before each session, Muse will take a snapshot of your brain in a natural state.

Muse uses this snapshot as a reference to understand your brain signals

Muse gives you feedback about your meditation in real time by translating your brain signals into the sounds of wind.

When your mind is calm and settled, you hear calm and settled winds. When your mind is active the winds will pick up and blow.

See Your Results

After each session, you’ll see how you did through a series of graphs and charts. Track your progress over time and earn points to unlock new features.

Muse will show you how your brain did from moment to moment through simple, easy to understand graphs and charts.

View your whole session at once, find out the amount of time you remained calm during a session and get helpful tips on how to improve future scores.

Track Your Progress And Achieve Your Goals

Your results are saved in a private account.

Use the Muse app to follow your progress over time and learn new things about your own mind. To help keep you motivated and improving, Muse also gives you points, goals, challenges and bonuses to strive for.

With every session you earn points, and can adjust your goal to fit your needs.

Improve Over Time

Muse is based on focused attention-based training exercises, which have been shown to produce many benefits over time.

The final step of the process is noticing the differences in your daily life.

Enjoy greater composure and focus through regular sessions with Muse.

You Need This Too!

There you have it.

My new best buddy who is helping through my day.

I have been using my Muse Headband since August of last year (2017) and I believe it is the best choice I have made in regards to my overhealth.

I feel better, I think more clearly and with the use of medical marijuana, I know that I have achieved a much better state of sheer relaxation and mindful coherence.

I strongly suggest you give this a try too.

The cost can easily be picked up by your insurance carrier as necessary equipment and will make such a difference in your everyday existence.

It does come with a money back guarantee so if you feel it is doing nothing for you, send it back and be done with it. I do not believe that will happen.

I hope you will be able to find comfort like I did in the Muse Headband.

Feel free to leave me any comments or questions below. I would really love to hear from anyone who is currently using or has used the Muse Headband.

I meditate and love the experience. I smoke weed for the focus it gives me in whatever action I am involved in. I am sure that if I smoke weed and them tried to meditate it would take me to a level that could not comprehend.

      Hey Maurice
That is one of the reasons I continue to use both in combination. If you have never tried, then you should at least give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised like I was.

Hi, I’m from WA. You have a great site. I’m personally interested in the subject because I use medical marihuana myself. That’s great. And I like this headband you’re offering. Already into meditating (which I am). Very nice.

This sounds like a must-have for me. My life is incredibly stressful, and I’m not into yoga or any type of class either — I feel way too self-conscious for that, and wouldn’t get anything out of the class. I agree with you. Medical Marijuana sounds like a great option, and used in conjunction with the Muse Headband sounds like a winning combination. Thanks…!

Hi Amy and thanks for the comment.
I cannot tell you how much better I feel since I have started using the Muse Headband. It has made such a difference. It has become part of my routine. When I happen to be late or miss a session, I can sure tell. Something just seems off. This will be part of my routine for along time. I hope you get the headband and see for yourself.

I never thought of weed and meditation in combination with each other. However, seeing how both can improve one’s way of life it makes sense.

Wow, this is very helpful. Even though I don’t use medicinal marijuana in my life, I do incorporate mindfulness and meditation on a regular basis and didn’t realize there was this kind of machine that also connects to an app that helps with meditation. It sounds like it’s an amazing strategy to help with meditation. Your comment referring to helping stay in a more controlled and effective state to help one get through the day is very true about meditation. I think this would help others with high anxiety too. Thanks for creating such a helpful post.
