Cannabutter Pumpkin Spice Cake Balls Recipe

Cannabutter-infused pumpkin spice cake balls are a potent and poppable way to celebrate Danksgiving. They’re more decadent than most holiday edibles. But also easier to make and serve. Just place them on a plate and pass them around the room.

About the size of a donut hole dipped in chocolate, these mouthwatering Thanksgiving edibles make for bite-sized party snacks. The cakey core is mixed with herb-infused cream cheese frosting, giving it a rich pumpkin pie flavor with a soft, chewy texture that melts in your mouth.

Making Cannabutter with the Magical Butter Machine

Cannabutter is the key ingredient in our pumpkin cake balls. We recommend using the Magical Butter Machine, a countertop botanical extractor, to make it using this recipe. But you can do it the old fashioned way, too.

Magical Butter Machine makes cannabutter in just 2 hours.

Making cannabutter with the Magical Butter Machine is a lot faster and easier than churning it yourself. If you’d like to go this route, there are just three simple steps. Remember that for the best results you shouldn’t pre-grind your herb. You also want to have a good understanding of what potency levels you want and how much botanical weight it takes to acheive that.

Cannabutter is the key ingredient in special pumpkin spice cake balls.

Cannabutter Ingredients

  • 1/4 ounce of dry herb per cup, decarbed

  • 2 to 5 cups of unsalted butter, softened at room temperature. Better if the butter is clarified.

  • 1 tablespoon of lecithin per cup (optional but highly recommended for increasing the bioavailability of your herbs for higher potency).

  1. Add all your cannabutter ingredients into the Magical Butter and fasten down the head.

  2. Push Temperature button and select 160F/71C.

  3. Once the Magical Butter Machine is done, unplug the device and remove the head. Put on the LoveGlove which comes included with the machine and slowly pour the cannabutter mixture through the included PurifyFilter and into your Magical Butter trays or other containers.

Pumpkin Spice Cake Ball Ingredients

Now you’ve got your cannabutter. But you’ve got to bake before you can get baked. Pumpkin spice cake balls are relatively easier than most holiday edible recipes. Just gather the following ingredients and you’ll find preparation to be fairly simple.

We recommend mixing with an immersion blender but a whisk will do.

Pumpkin Spice Cake

  • 16 ounces of white cake mix

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup of canned pumpkin

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice

  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil

  • ¾ cup of water

Chocolate Dip

  • 16 ounces of vanilla flavored candy coating

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • ½ cup of room temperature cannabutter

  • 2 ounces of room temperature cream cheese

  • 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar

  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract

  1. To start, combine your pumpkin spice cake ingredients in a bowl and blend. We recommend using an immersion blender but you can hand mix with a whisk if need be.

  2. Grease a 9 by 13 by 2 inch pan with butter or shortening. Pour the pumpkin spice cake mix into the pan.

  3. Preheat your oven at 350F and bake the cake for 25 minutes.

  4. Remove the cake and let it cool off.

  5. Break up the cake into a large bowl and break it down into fine crumbles.

  6. Mix the frosting ingredients together, including the cannabutter, in another bowl until you get smooth frosting.

  7. Combine cake crumbles with frosting and mix the two by hand until they’re thoroughly mixed.

  8. Chill the cake mix in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes.

  9. Roll the cake mix into small one inch balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for an hour.

  10. Microwave the vanilla flavored candy coating until melted.

  11. One by one, dip the pumpkin spice cake balls into the melted candy coating and place them back onto the parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.

  12. When you’re done dipping, place the cookie sheet into the refrigerator until you’re ready to enjoy.

That looks like such an amazing recipe and something really different. I have to give my friend this recipe since she does most of the baking! My sister would love this too. She has been living with cancer for over 12 years and needs marijuana in order for her to get an appetite.

Hey Chris and thanks for the comment.
Marijuana has been shown to help with cancer, and I hope it is working for her. If she has not tried any edibles, she should give them a try but as always, consult with her doctor beforehand.

Wow! This sounds so delicious…. As a college student, I like to enjoy the holidays. Pumpkin spice in a edible is something I have never tried before. It seems like quite the treat. I would just like to know though. Are there any variations on this recipe you would recommend? Thank you in advance and I hope you make it a great day!

Hi Alex and thanks for the comment. If you have never tried edibles before, they you must give them a try. Just remember to use in moderation, as it takes a bit to get into your system Many people make the mistake of taking too much as they feel that the first one they took isn’t working. BAM! Then you’ll be really high!
The only variation I might recommend is in the amount of the cannabutter. Perhaps add me a bit more than called for. Other than that, you are only limited by your imagination!!

    Hi Brad,
Thanks for checking out my site and your comment was appreciated. Italian Greyhounds are really nice dogs! Great website and great post! So much information here I will definitely forward this to others who may be interested. I have chronic back pain sciatica and would like to see continued research on all the possible natural cures and more successful pain relief.
    All the best

Hey Lauren & Doug and thanks for the comment.
Sciatica is the worst. I know of a few people with the same issue. A couple of them tried CBD oil-a little dab under the tongue a couple times with no high like feeling as CBD does not contain those active ingredients. Took a couple of days but they did find relief and noticeable decrease in pain levels. Wish I understood the science behind it more.
